Litho Laminating Technical Guidelines

When placing an order for litho lamination, it is of the utmost importance that there is clarity when specifying the correct sheet size and grain direction in order for Glampak to meet your criteria.

To assist in keeping the laminated material as flat and as strong as possible, we cross grain laminate each sheet. To achieve this, we run our flute grain to the opposite direction of your supplied printed top grain sheet. Glampak flute grain is always specified as the first dimension, so for example, when ordering, a corrugated sheet size of 720 x 1020mm, the flute direction will be parellel to the 720mm dimension. The printed top sheet must always run in the opposite direction to the first dimension of the corrugated sheet.

We also request that each pallet of printed sheets supplied to Glampak clearly states your grip and side lay requirements.

In order to achieve the best possible bond between our corruagted substrate and your printed sheet, it is advised that you supply a grey back printed sheet suitable for lamination purposes. You should make sure with your paper supplier that the printing substrate is suitable for laminating.

The minimum grammage acceptable for lamination is 130gsm dependant on substrate.

A heavier weight liner will assist in reducing the amount of flute shadow, especially when laminating to B flute. If you are in doubt with any of the above guidelines, please ask our sales team for assistance.
